I wait for such a cellphone, StarTacIII! Saw this while bumming around the Motorola page. I like to look at the pages for other countries because you can sometimes get a look at things to come or exclusive products. I don’t know any Korean, but I can make out that this is a 3rd Gen StarTac phone. It looks pretty basic and one of the few English words on the site was “economical”, so I’m guessing that this is geared towards new cell phone users as an entry-level phone.

Pizza Vending Machine (28 February 2007)

Pizza Vending Machine

If this were right next to a Pepsi machine, my boyfriend would be in heaven. The machine serves up fresh 9″ Connie’s Pizzas in about 2 minutes, with 3 different topping choices. It looks like, so far, these kiosks are only operating on the eastern seaboard.

Gate Hold (25 February 2007)

I’m currently stuck in Phoenix because of a delayed flight, so what better time to post an update, right? Ever since I received a sewing machine as a present for Christmas, I’ve been paying more attention to fabrics. A couple of my favorite sites are ReproDepot and Contemporary Cloth. I’m not much of a girly girl, but I do think that florals have been making a comeback as of late. A few of these would make great pillows or lining for purses.

Scottsdale '07 (25 February 2007)

circling the cow

I finished up with a second place in the Half-Arabian Working Cow Horse Amateur to Ride class. My score was a 70, which I was pleased with considering I haven’t worked a cow since last September.

Crystal won both her classes with Pink, the Open and the Open Championship, with a 74.5 and a 74 respectively. Overall, it was a good show. The weather was great, there wasn’t much drama and I had a great time seeing all the people I only seem to see at horse shows. Now I just need to order my pictures!

Note on the scoring: The highest and lowest scores were dropped and the remaining scores were added together. A score of 70 means you completed everything well and didn’t accumulate any penalties or additional points. Anything above a 70 reflects the amount of additional points rewarded to the maneuvers. The average scores for most amateur to ride working western classes (e.g. working cow horse, reining) is somewhere in the mid to high 60s…at least in the Arab world!

New Apple Hardware in Q2? (22 February 2007)

So they are saying that sometime in the second quarter, Apple will be releasing black iMacs, 8-core Mac Pros, 15-inch MacBooks, new Cinema Displays and probably an upgraded Mac Mini too. Whew..that was a lot. We’ll see how this holds true, but for now here is a nice mock-up of the supposed black iMac. Black iMac

Side Saddle (21 February 2007)

SideSaddle February 21 2007

Today I rode my horse Millie in Side Saddle. I had a lot of fun, but we didn’t end up placing in the class. The problem I have with Millie is that she likes to go too fast, so when I tried to slow her down, she broke from the lope to the walk right in front of the judge. Oh well. I haven’t ridden in over a month, so I was glad to just get up on my horse.

Also, my side saddle outfit was too big, so the skirt kept switching around my waist and getting in the way. My vest could also be taken in a good 2-3 inches. I guess I’d rather have it too big than too small.

Side saddle isn’t really my “thing” anyway. Can’t wait for the working cow class with Pink!

Traveling Day (20 February 2007)

In just a few hours, I will be leaving behind slushy Illinois is favor of dry dirt and sand. This is because every February for the past 7 years, I have participated in the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in Scottsdale, AZ. This year I’ll be competing in the Western Ladies Side Saddle and Working Cow classes with two of my horses. Look for plenty of equine related posts in the coming days.

Thinking Spring (19 February 2007)

Today’s shock of milder air along with the mix of mud and slush on my wellies has me thinking about spring. Crisp colors are starting to pop up around many retail establishments. So far, Crate and Barrel has me the most excited about the end of winter.
Verde Vases: $9.95 - $24.95 Crate and Barrel
These vases would look great with white tulips. Very Ina Garten.

Leo All-Purpose Glass: $1.95 Crate and Barrel
Anything labeled “all-purpose” is an A in my book.

Melamine Footed Bowls: $3.95 - $14.95 Crate and Barrel
I am obsessed with melamine. It’s durable, easy to clean and comes in such great colors! These would look even better with some fresh salsa or guacamole in them.

Permalinks (15 February 2007)

I’m having trouble with permalinks, so I’ve reverted back to the default link structure for now.

In the mean time, here is a picture of snow…

Experiments (10 February 2007)

I am performing a few experiments with site design. Expect to see a lot of different colors for the time being.
