My First Attempt at Bread (5 September 2007)

So I finally got around to baking my first loaf of bread. It really wasn’t too difficult and the 10 minutes of kneading was actually quite relaxing. I haven’t cut into it yet, but if its appearance is any indication of the taste and texture, it should be pretty good. I’m saving the loaf for dinner, but I will be sure update you on the results later tonight.

Update: The bread is delicious; nice and crusty with a tender crumb. Even The Boy, who hates homemade bread, said he liked it. In your face Wonderbread. The only thing I would say against my work is that it’s a little spongy, but nothing I can’t perfect over time.

Yep, that’s a picture I took immediately after I pulled it out of the oven. I’ll have to make some for you! I think it would be really good as bread bowl filled with beef stew or even for grilled cheese sandwiches.
